Qigong Can be for You!

Not this weekend, but next weekend on March 10th at 12:00pm at my center in Rochelle Park, there will be an introductory Qigong Seminar. What is Qigong? Qigong is an ancient Chinese martial art that has been around for thousands of years that has a plethora of benefits. Qi means energy, and gong means work. Essentially it is energy work that can help develop physical strengthening, mental and emotional releasing, and even spiritual cleansing, if you are open to that.

Exactly one year ago, Frankie, Lisa, and I went to my mentor's school in Rockaway, NJ to meet Sifu Sal Canzoneiri. Sal is a master at over a dozen martial art disciplines. He is very well educated, a renowned martial arts instructor, has taught all over the world most recently I think in Spain, and is one of the most powerful healers we have ever come across.

Okay so physically, what are the benefits? Well Qigong has a series of poses, postures, and movements that can strengthen the ligaments and tendons of your body, they can build your muscles in some areas that you wouldn't even think about working, and I was also told you can receive results as if doing a Brazilian butt lift!

But the physical benefits are more than exercise! There are other health benefits to qigong, even on a medical, or healing, perspective. These poses and postures, sounds and noises, and positions you stand in can actually activate your internal organs and get your blood to flow properly, essentially boosting your immune system even greater than before. One time I had a lung issue and was all congested, and MY Sifu did a lung sound qigong where I did a pose and movement with the sound "THAH!" and after a few times, I started coughing and I felt my lungs actually clear up! You couldn't make this up if you tried!

You can clear you lungs, pump blood to your heart, cleanse your kidneys, activate your liver, qigong can actually boost your health! Imagine, exercising AND increasing your immune system?

Mentally and emotionally, the procedure of doing qigong can also be very meditative. The focus and breathing that you will be doing will relax your body as well. A lot fo breathing exercises allows you to learn how and where to breath properly from, which helps your blood flow and emotionally gets you to ease up. Any truly relaxing task requires proper breathing to relax your mind and body as one.

Spiritually. This is where I crack my knuckles and really type away! The same poses and positions you are in are also supposed to charge the yin and yang meridians of the body, allowing spiritual energy to flow smoother and easier through your body. Sometimes emotional angst and spiritual blockages can form in the body and qigong can spiritually open you up and clearing out those blockages. I had a friend go through medical qigong and everything in your life "just happened" to fall into place. She got a better job which led to ANOTHER better job, leading to more MONEY, and her injuries from an accident have improved, she is more mentally relaxed and organized "all of a sudden".

When Frankie, Lisa, and I did qigong with Sal, we were amazed at what we were learning and were capable of doing. You don't have to be a martial artist to do qigong. I invite any and all people to come to Trento's Martial Arts and Fitness Center to meet with Sal and experience this awesome martial art, and hear some testimonials of the amazing benefits it has! Sometimes seeing and hearing is believing, but I challenge you to try yourself ;)! And you'll be learning from one of the best of the best in the world! It'll be an experience you won't want to miss.
